Barcolana is the annual sailing regatta held in October that brings thousands of boats to the Gulf of Trieste. The series, following the 57th edition in 2025, captures the fleet from above and from a distance.
The photographs are digital infrared images: the sea remains black and the sails stand out as white marks. In the images of the start, the sails are blurred and the fleet forms a compact mass; in the others, the boats are spread out across the gulf.
Work began a few days before the regatta, with a study of the lighting conditions and the positions from which to film the fleet.
